Tribal tattoo designs
Solid black interlocking shapes with sharp points, drawn to follow the muscle rather than sit on top of it. Simple to read, genuinely hard to draw well.
Two things worth knowing. First, the word covers very different traditions — Polynesian, Marquesan, Bornean, Filipino and others — that have their own motifs, their own rules about who may wear what, and in several cases living practitioners. Generic "tribal" flatwork borrows the visual language without any of that. If a specific tradition matters to you, read about it and speak to someone from it. Second, on the craft side: solid black is unforgiving. There is no shading to hide a wobbly edge, and reworking or covering a large black shape later is one of the harder jobs in tattooing. Get the shape right on paper.

About these designs
This is a reference library, not a shop — nothing here is for sale and no tattoo can be ordered from this page. Take a design to a professional tattoo artist, who will adapt it to your body, your placement and their own hand. Meanings attached to motifs are cultural and vary between traditions; where a motif belongs to a living tradition, read about it before wearing it.
